SUMMARY:Online Hip Workshop | Lateral Hip and Buttock Pain | 2023
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary diagnostic & management strategies for Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain\nOnline hip course for physiotherapists\, and other health professionals\nSuitable for physiotherapists and other health professionals involved in diagnosis and rehabilitation of patients with lateral hip or buttock pain. \n \nDo you have a strategy for working through differential diagnoses and management planning for lateral hip or buttock pain? \nThis Online Hip Workshop provides solutions for both common and complex presentations of lateral hip and buttock pain. \nThe course includes:\n• 6 hours of online lessons with printable notes – this is the Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain online course\n• 6 x weekly emails to guide your progress\, leading up to the live event\n• Culminating in 6-7 hours (2 x 3-3.5 hr sessions depending on no. of questions) of live zoom sessions\n• 6 weeks access to recordings of the live workshop event \nSynopsis\nLateral hip and particularly buttock pain can often present a diagnostic dilemma. The lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints may refer into these regions; intra-articular hip pathologies may be accompanied by lateral hip &/or buttock pain; local soft tissues & neural structures may be primary sources of nociception. The first step is determining the most likely contributors to the patient’s pain presentation. \nDeveloping an optimal management program with positive effects past the short term\, will also require an evaluation of physical & psychological drivers. Intrinsic & extrinsic factors should be considered within the overall context of workload. While non-modifiable factors (e.g. bony morphology) are by nature unable to be modified\, awareness of these factors can be integral to providing advice and interventions (active or passive) that ‘do no harm’ and development of strategies that allow maximal function with minimisation of adverse effects. \nHip conditions you will be able to better assess and manage after this hip workshop:\n\nGluteal tendinopathy and associated conditions such as ‘trochanteric bursitis’ (Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome – GTPS)\nProximal hamstring tendinopathy\nPosterior hip instability\nPosterior Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome\nExtra-articular impingement\n\nIschiofemoral impingement\nGreater trochanter – ischial impingement\nGreater trochanter – pelvic impingement\n\n\nNerve related posterior hip pain – Deep Gluteal Syndrome (including Piriformis Syndrome)\n\nOnline Theory\nThe substantial theoretical component of this course is presented in an online learning format for your flexibility and optimal learning experience. To keep everyone on track to have completed this content prior to the live workshop\, you will receive an email series to guide you through this content. This will involve a time commitment of approximately 1 hour per week. You will receive 6 weekly emails to guide your progress through the online learning component. You will also be free to go ahead or review any of the lessons over the following 3-month period. \n• Complete the Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain Online Course – 6 hours of online lectures with printable notes.\n• Learn anywhere\, at your own pace\, in your own time.\n• Benefit from a guided reminder series of emails to ensure you complete the content\n• Rewind and revise as many times as you like.\n• Online forum for discussion.\n• Self-assessment quiz.\n• 3 months of unlimited access to video content \nAims of the Online Component\nThe online component aims to: \n• Clarify definitions and diagnoses of lateral hip and buttock pain\n• Explore factors which may influence loads across the lateral hip & buttock and predispose to intra or extra-articular impingement\, such as:\na. morphological variants (e.g. bony structure\, soft tissue – neural relationships)\nb. adverse soft tissue loading associated with kinematics and neuromotor function (focus on hip abductors and short external rotators).\n• Provide an overview of key load management and therapeutic exercise strategies for lateral hip and buttock pain\, particular to the patient presentation and associated difficulties with mechanical load transfer.\n• Provide an update on scientific evidence for underlying diagnostic and management approaches \nLive Online Workshop\nThe live online workshop will be provided as 2 x 3-3.5 hour live zoom sessions. The shorter sessions allow for greater flexibility and avoid participant fatigue with prolonged online course attendance. Due to time-zone differences\, the workshops will be repeated at either end of the day on both Saturday and Sunday. \nThere will be 2 sessions each day\, repeating the same content\, so you will have an opportunity to choose one session on each day that best suits you: \nOption 1:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET at 9:00 am – 12:00/12.30pm AEST \nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST at 11:00 am – 2:00/2.30pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST at 12:00 – 3:00/3.30am BST\nUniversal Time Coordinated UTC at 23:00 – 2.00/2.30am UTC \nOption 2:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET at 5:00 – 8:00pm AEST \nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST at 7:00 -10:00/10.30 pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST at 8:00-11:00/11.30am BST\nUniversal Time Coordinated UTC at 7:00 – 10:00/10.30am UTC \nTo convert these dates & times to your local time\, simply convert from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) using a time converter like this one: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html \nThe online workshop will guide participants through diagnostic tests and management strategies for lateral hip and buttock pain. There is now high-quality evidence for assessment and management of gluteal tendinopathy from the ‘LEAP’ lateral hip pain randomised clinical trial\, of which Alison was a key investigator. Participants will receive first-hand instruction on techniques\, advice regarding how best to apply this approach in clinical practice and valuable troubleshooting for slow or non-responders. \nThe workshop with then delve into the other lesser-known problems associated with buttock pain that may present diagnostic and management challenges – posterior joint instability\, bony impingements\, peripheral nerve entrapments and musculotendinous overload. SUMMARY:Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain | Live Online Workshop 2022
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a strategy for working through differential diagnoses and management planning for lateral hip or buttock pain?\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Online Workshop provides solutions for both common and complex presentations of lateral hip and buttock pain.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Online Workshop includes:\n• 6 hours of evidence-based\, clinically relevant lessons with printable notes\n• Access content from 13th June 2022\n• 6 x weekly emails to guide your progress\n• Culminating in 2 x 3-hour live zoom sessions for practical application\n• Live zoom sessions will be recorded for viewing in your own time\n  \nWhat’s more\,\n• 3 months of unlimited access to online learning content\n• Rewind and revise as many times as you like\n• Learn anywhere\, at your own pace\, in your own time\n• Self-assessment quiz to evaluate your progress\n\n\n\n\n  \nSynopsis\nLateral hip and particularly buttock pain can often present a diagnostic dilemma. Developing an optimal management program with positive effects past the short term\, will also require an evaluation of physical & psychological drivers. \nOnline Theory\nThe substantial theoretical component of this course is presented in an online learning format for your flexibility and optimal learning experience. To keep everyone on track to have completed this content prior to the live workshop\, you will receive an email series to guide you through this content. This will involve a time commitment of approximately 1 hour per week. Access to the online content will begin on June 13th 2022\, from which time you will receive 6 weekly emails to guide your progress. SUMMARY:Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain | Live Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a strategy for working through differential diagnoses and management planning for lateral hip or buttock pain?\nThis Lateral Hip & Buttock Pain Online Workshop provides solutions for difficult presentations of lateral hip and buttock pain.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Online Workshop includes:\n• 6 hours of evidence-based\, clinically relevant lessons with printable notes\n• Access content from 3rd May 2021\n• 6 x weekly emails to guide your progress\n• Culminating in 2 x 3-hour live zoom sessions for practical application\n• Live zoom sessions will be recorded for viewing in your own time\n  \nWhat’s more\,\n• 3 months of unlimited access to online learning content\n• Rewind and revise as many times as you like\n• Learn anywhere\, at your own pace\, in your own time\n• Self-assessment quiz to evaluate your progress\n\n\n\n\n  \nSynopsis\nLateral hip and particularly buttock pain can often present a diagnostic dilemma. Developing an optimal management program with positive effects past the short term\, will also require an evaluation of physical & psychological drivers. Access to the online content will begin on May 3rd 2021\, from which time you will receive 6 weekly emails to guide your progress. You will also be able to go ahead or review any of the lessons over the 3 month period from May 3rd. \n• 6 hours of online lectures with printable notes.\n• Learn anywhere\, at your own pace\, in your own time.\n• Benefit from a guided reminder series of emails to ensure you complete the content\n• Rewind and revise as many times as you like.\n• Online forum for discussion.\n• Self-assessment quiz.\n• 3 months of unlimited access to video content \nThe online component aims to: \n• Clarify definitions and diagnoses of lateral hip and buttock pain\n• Explore factors which may influence loads across the lateral hip & buttock and predispose to intra or extra-articular impingement\, such as:\na. morphological variants (e.g. bony structure\, soft tissue – neural relationships)\nb. adverse soft tissue loading associated with kinematics and neuromotor function (focus on hip abductors and short external rotators).\n• Provide an overview of key load management and therapeutic exercise strategies for lateral hip and buttock pain\, particular to the patient presentation and associated difficulties with mechanical load transfer.\n• Provide an update on scientific evidence for underlying diagnostic and management approaches \nLive Online Workshop\nThe live online workshop will be provided as 2 x 3 hour live zoom sessions. The shorter sessions allow for greater flexibility and avoid participant fatigue with prolonged online course attendance. Due to time-zone differences\, the workshops will be repeated at either end of the day on both Saturday and Sunday. \nThere will be 2 sessions each day\, repeating the same content\, so you will have an opportunity to choose one session on each day that best suits you: \nOption 1:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET at 9:00 am – 12:00pm AEST \nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST at 11:00 am – 2:00pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST at 12:00 – 3:00am BST \nOption 2:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET at 5:00 – 8:00pm AEST \nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST at 7:00 -10:00 pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST at 8:00-11am BST \nTo convert these dates & times to your local time\, simply convert from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) using a time converter like this one: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html \nThe online workshop will guide participants through diagnostic tests and management strategies for lateral hip and buttock pain. Understanding the impact of bony morphology\, soft tissue interfaces and postural and movement patterns is critical to optimal management of these conditions. \nDay 1 – 12th June: Assessment & Management of Joint Related Pain\, Bony Impingements & Nerve Related Pain\nOption 1:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 9:00 am – 12:00pm AEST\nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 11:00 am – 2:00pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 12:00 – 3:00am BST\nCorresponding UTC Fri\, 11 June 2021 at 23:00 \nOption 2:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 5:00 – 8:00pm AEST\nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 7:00 -10:00 pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 8:00-11am BST\nCorresponding UTC Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 07:00 \nIncludes:\n• Recognising different conditions through patient presentation\, interview and physical tests.\n• Demonstration of formal diagnostic tests for posterior hip instability\, ischiofemoral & other bony impingements.\n• Demonstration of formal diagnostic tests for nerve impingements with focus on sciatic nerve impingements (deep gluteal syndrome/piriformis syndrome).\n• Telehealth assessment strategies for joint instability\, bony impingements and nerve assessment – which we will all do together.\n• Load management & exercise therapy for posterior hip instability versus ischiofemoral impingement.\n• Special focus on deep external rotator exercises for these conditions – I will let you know beforehand what very simple equipment you need to have on hand.\n• Load management & exercise therapy for sciatic nerve impingement and how this will vary depending on drivers and impairments.\n• Time for questions \nDay 2 – 13th June: Assessment & Management of Soft Tissue Related Pain\nOption 1:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 9:00 am – 12:00pm AEST\nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 11:00 am – 2:00pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 12:00 – 3:00am BST\nCorresponding UTC Sat\, 12 June 2021 at 23:00 \nOption 2:\nAustralian Eastern Time\, AET Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 5:00 – 8:00pm AEST\nNew Zealand Standard Time\, NZST Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 7:00 -10:00 pm NZST\nBritish Summer Time\, BST Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 8:00-11am BST\nCorresponding UTC Sun\, 13 June 2021 at 07:00 \nIncludes:\n• Diagnostic assessment of proximal hamstring tendinopathy – combination of demonstration & try on yourself telehealth assessments.\n• Load management and exercise therapy for proximal hamstring tendinopathy.\n• Diagnostic assessment of gluteal tendinopathy – combination of demonstration & try on yourself telehealth assessments.\n• Load management and exercise therapy for gluteal tendinopathy.\n• Practice all key weightbearing exercises – I will let you know beforehand what very simple equipment you need to have on hand.\n• Step-by-step troubleshooting for failure to progress\, and advice on how to alter programs for more complex presentations e.g. patients presenting with additional hip joint conditions and/or lower back pain.\n• Addressing expectations – your patient’s expectations and your own.\n• Time for questions \nThese sessions will be recorded and you will be provided with access to these for a further 6 weeks after the live session. SUMMARY:Anterior Hip & Groin Pain | Live Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you find yourself using the same management approaches for patients with hip pain\, regardless of their presentation?\nAre you lacking a clear understanding of how morphology\, loading patterns and muscle dysfunction drive anterior hip and groin pain?\nDo you want to learn how to address these issues to optimise and FAST-TRACK YOUR OUTCOMES?\n  \n\nThis course includes:\n• 5 hours of PowerPoint lessons with printable notes\n• Access content from 19th April 2021\n• 6 x weekly emails to guide your progress\n• Culminating in 2 x 3-hour live zoom sessions\n  \nWhat’s more\,\n• 3 months of unlimited access to online learning content\n• Rewind and revise as many times as you like\n• Learn anywhere\, at your own pace\, in your own time\n• Self-assessment quiz to evaluate your progress\n\n  \nSynopsis\nAn exploration of the available anterior hip and groin pain literature reveals a minefield of inconsistent diagnostic labels and a high volume of imaging and surgical papers describing a myriad of pathologies which may or may not be associated with a patient’s presenting signs and symptoms. In recent years there have been some positive advances in defining clinical entities and diagnostic processes. Yet there is a persistent lack of clarity and evidence around best management. This may be related to undue focus on remediating a particular structural pathology or physical impairment\, without adequate consideration of mechanisms or drivers of pain and load intolerance. Within the contemporary biopsychosocial model\, health professionals acknowledge that patients may present with varying combinations of psychological and physical overload. While the psychosocial components of management are of high importance\, these will not be addressed in detail within this forum\, but much education is widely available on this topic. The primary focus will be on understanding and addressing mechanisms of physical overload and impairments associated with anterior hip and groin pain. \nOnline Theory\nThe substantial theoretical component of this course is presented in an online learning format for your flexibility and optimal learning experience. To keep everyone on track to have completed this content prior to the live workshop\, you will receive an email series to guide you through this content.
