The long stride walking test aims to reproduce pain associated with ischiofemoral impingement by actively moving the hip into extension in some functional adduction during gait. Reproduction of the patient’s lower buttock pain when walking with long strides, then relieved with short strides, increases the likelihood that the patient’s pain is associated with ischiofemoral impingement.
