Do you have pain over the outside of your hip? Is this pain worse when lying on your side at night, and during walking, particularly up stairs or up hills? Are you wondering if you have gluteal tendinopathy, trochanteric (hip) bursitis or greater trochanteric pain syndrome?

Testimonial

"I am 69 years old. I am at the advanced stage of your hip pain course, and I just wanted to thank you for enabling me to get back on top of things. Before I started the course I got to the stage where I was unable to do many of the things I love. I was struggling to walk, sleeping was always painful and interrupted and stairs were impossible. I have started to walk around 20 minutes a day and can handle stairs quite well. I look forward to going to bed and have a great sleep nearly every night."

This education and exercise self-help course is developed by Dr Alison Grimaldi, a leading expert in Hip and Buttock pain, and key investigator on a multicentre university trial into Gluteal Tendinopathy published in the British Medical Journal.

Gluteal tendinopathy is the main cause of pain from the soft tissues at the side of the hip. Some people also have trochanteric bursitis and together these conditions are referred to as Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome. These soft tissue conditions are most common in older women but can also occur in men and younger athletes. It is a problem that can interfere substantially with sleep, physical activity, and impact substantially on quality of life.

This rehabilitation program will give you a detailed understanding of this group of conditions.

  1. The first step is understanding your condition – the different diagnoses and their causes.
  2. Next, our detailed educational lessons on strategies for managing this condition. These lessons give you the tools to help get this condition under control and keep it at bay for the longer term.
  3. Onto a multilevel exercise program, progressing from early to advanced level exercises.

Please note, the content in this rehabilitation program is informational in nature and is not personalised medical advice. We recommend you check with your general practitioner before beginning an exercise program.
